UbD Ch. 11 Curriculum Framework
My response to this chapter is very brief. I did not discover any new information that was not already covered in the previous chapters. At Rocketship the science and social studies curriculum is expected to be designed using UbD. This all goes back to framing curriculum those all important essential questions. Pulling out those really big ideas and moving forward from there to design macro curriculum. By the end of the chapter the authors proposed that all K-12 teachers should be required to design course syllabi like college professors. It is also suggested that it be displayed as a public document accessible to students, parents, and colleagues. Finally, teachers need to work on correcting the bad habit of designin around content instead of logic of learning. p. 301.

While Rocketship requires the use of UbD for science and social studies, you're going to be going above and beyond by using UbD to plan math units as well! As you know, teaching for understanding is important in ALL subject areas!!!!
