Reach Classroom Practices

This assignment was very practical to gain a ore detailed list of procedures, rules, and other items needed to effectively run a classroom. Establishing procedures and rules are critical in creating a classroom that functions smoothlu, efficiently, and effectively for the teacher and students. The big idea out of this article deinatley was procedures, procedures, procedures and their significance. As a substitute teacher for the last four years, I would walk into classrooms with these procedures already taken care of for me. I am thrilled at the opportunity to start from scratch and establish these for myself and my students. This process will be challenging that I know from experience, but with good planning and practice it will undoubtedly pay off for the school year. Establishing signals, appropraite listening and learning posture (at Rocketship it is the LEARN ing position), procedures for clean-up, rotation and transition procedures, teacher directed whole group on rug sitting posture like show me cross cross applesauce and snowball hands are essential to establish from day one. Providing clear, written, oral, and visual prompts to help students master these is essential as well. Indeed this requires a tremendous amount of planning. I look forward to this process and figuring out through implementation and practice and making appropriate modifications as necessary. I remind myself that I have chosen to take the path that will lead to mastery, and I will continue to practice my skills to gain knowledge and improve. How exciting!
